Dam Spillage: Zanetor Rawlings Delivers Emotional Speech After Meeting Victims

Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, delivered an emotional speech to reporters while extending a helping hand to the flood-affected areas in the South Tongu District.

The MP visited several communities, including Sogakope, Vume, Sokpoe, and Dabala, to assess the situation and provide relief items and medical supplies to those in need.

The flooding, caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage and rising water levels in the Volta River, has caused immense hardship for the residents in these areas. To alleviate their suffering, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings donated blankets, clothing, food, clean drinking water, and hygiene products to the affected population.

Moreover, the MP ensured that crucial medical supplies were made available to healthcare facilities in the region to ensure uninterrupted service to the affected population. During the distribution of relief items, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings expressed her heartfelt concern and sympathy for the affected residents.

“It is truly heartbreaking to witness the suffering of our people in the wake of this devastating flood. As their representative, I believe it is my duty to offer assistance during these trying times,” she said.

The legislator also underscored the importance of a collaborative effort to address the aftermath of the floods.

She stated, “We are working closely with local authorities and organizations to provide immediate relief and to formulate long-term strategies for mitigating the impact of such disasters in the future.”

The flood-affected communities conveyed profound appreciation for Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’ prompt and crucial intervention. Esteemed local leaders lauded her steadfast dedication to the well-being of her constituents, recognizing her as a genuine representative of the community.
