Dumelo’s Old Movie With Gay Themes Resurfaces After His Pro-NDC Stance On Anti-Gay Bill

John Dumelo’s recent support for the anti-gay bill has sparked backlash due to his past involvement in a movie that depicted homosexuality.

Critics have pointed out that his current stance contradicts his previous actions, as he now advocates for the anti-LGBTQ+ agenda as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

John Dumelo expressed his support for the NDC during an interview with Starr FM’s Bola Ray. He highlighted the party’s stance on protecting “family values” in Ghana.

Despite refraining from sharing his personal opinion, Dumelo made it clear that he values individuals’ privacy.

However, his comments have faced criticism from Ghanaians, who have shared screenshots and a clip from the movie Men in Love, where he promoted homosexuality.

Some have pointed out that Dumelo seems torn between pursuing a political career and advocating for progressive ideals, prompting questions about his priorities.

One user with the screen name @JudeOnTwitt3r said the actor was “confused”, “He wants to be a politician but he also wants to be progressive. Tell him to choose a struggle”.

Men in Love is a Nigerian drama film released in 2010, which was directed by Moses Ebere. The movie features renowned actors such as Tonto Dike, John Dumelo, and Halima Abubakar.

The storyline revolves around a troubled couple whose marital issues are exacerbated when a cursed homosexual friend enters their lives.

Divided into two parts, the first part delves into the narrative of Charles, a husband who was previously promiscuous and becomes the object of affection for his obsessive gay friend, Alex.

Despite Charles rejecting Alex’s advances, the latter persists and eventually commits a heinous act of rape.

The second part of the film delves into the exploration of the factors that led to the development of homosexuality within the story.
