Don’t Be Shocked When You See Me Campaigning For John Dumelo- Prince David Osei

Actor Prince David Osei has emphasized that his active support for John Dumelo in the 2024 elections should not be surprising to Ghanaians.

Alongside other Ghanaian celebrities, he had previously endorsed Lydia Alhassan in the 2020 elections. However, Osei now believes that Alhassan has been a major letdown, leading him to shift his allegiance to Dumelo.

In an interview on GHOne Television in Accra, Prince David Osei expressed his disappointment with Lydia Alhassan. He said that despite enduring insults for backing her over Dumelo in the previous election, Alhassan has failed to address his concerns and those of his fellow colleagues.

“Personally, it will not be shocking if you see me on a platform campaigning for John to win the Ayawaso seat. I feel like when people go all out for you, you don’t take them for granted.

“We stood on that platform, got a lot of insults because of Maa Lydia…I even at a point sent messages to her PA that some of the Legon students are really going through it and I’ve been trying to support but you are the MP so hear them. They never replied, nothing happened.

“So personally, if we are the same people that went there, we got all the insults and humiliation because they said we stood against our friend. If John has gotten the nod again, we will support him,” he said.

When asked if he was disappointed in the MP he said “Personally I feel she should have done more especially the people that stood with you. So when we talk she should listen. But it looks like she lives in her own world”.

In the 2020 elections, Mrs. Lydia Seyram Alhassan successfully defeated John Dumelo with 39,851 votes out of a total of 77,604 votes. Dumelo of the NDC, garnered 37,778 votes, while an independent candidate received 108 votes.
