Eight People Arrested During NDC Primaries For Various Offences

Authorities said Yaro Burdove, Harrison Martey, Imoro Ibrahim, Arkoli Mensah, Nyarko Richard, Prince Lomotey, Hamidu Dramani, and Bejando Emmanuel were all arrested at polling places in four different constituencies.

During the elections in the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Yaro Burdove was detained for allegedly photographing his ballot. In addition, he is accused of trying to take pictures of other people’s ballots.

Harrison Martey and Imoro Ibrahim were also detained for engaging in an illegal brawl at the polling station in the same voting district.

During the voting process in the New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, suspects Arkoli Mensah and Nyarko Richard were apprehended for unlawfully fighting at a polling place and so disrupting the peace.

Prince Lomotey, a suspect, was detained at the polling station in the Mfantseman Constituency, Central Region, on charges of impersonation. Hamidu Dramani and Bejando Emmanuel were taken into custody again for causing trouble at a voting place in the Atebubu-Amantin constituency in the Bono East Region.

Five of the suspects have currently been granted bail while the police investigate, and the other three are in police prison helping with the investigation.

The Police Service have been informed about a viral video in which Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, a candidate for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, is seen throwing money to a Ashanti Region crowd while voting was ongoing.

Her actions in the video are presently being investigated by legal counsel to see whether or not she committed an election-related offence warranting police involvement.
