ET Mensah’s Remains To Arrive In Ghana On Tuesday, October 10

The mortal remains of former Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, E.T. Mensah, will be brought to Ghana from South Africa and subsequently transported to the morgue following a brief ceremony scheduled for October 10, 2023.

This information was conveyed through an official statement released by the Kley Abodo family on Saturday. E.T. Mensah, who had been grappling with deteriorating health for a considerable period, sadly passed away at the age of 77 in South Africa last week.

PRESS STATEMENT: DEATH OF HON. ENOCH TEYE MENSAH

The head of the KLEY ABODO Family of Prampram, formally announces the demise of Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah popularly known as E.T. Mensah which sad event happened on Monday, 2nd October 2023 at 1:30 am in the Republic of South Africa aged 77-years.

The late Hon. E.T. Mensah until his demise was a member of the Council of State, he was also the first National Youth Organizer of the NDC and a former Member of Parliament-(MP) for Ningo-Prampram Constituency from January 1997 to January 2017, a former Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, a former minister for Youth and Sports, Employment and Social Welfare, Water Resources, Works and Housing.

His mortal remains will be received in the Country on Tuesday, 10th October 2023 at 9:15 pm at the Kotoka International Airport by the family to be conveyed to the morgue after a brief ceremony.

Former Ningo-Prampram MP E.T. Mensah Is Dead

Enoch Teye Mensah, a distinguished member of the Council of State and former Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram. Mr. Mensah, aged 77, passed away on the night of Sunday, October 1, 2023, in South Africa after a prolonged period of ill health.

Mr. Mensah was a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, having served as a Member of Parliament for 20 years from January 1997 to January 2017. He was also a Minister of Youth and Sports during the Rawlings era and held the position for two terms.

Additionally, he served as the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly during the PNDC era. As a loyal member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mensah was elected to Parliament on the NDC ticket in 1997 and represented the people of Ningo-Prampram until 2017.

He was a devoted public servant and will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his constituents and the people of Ghana. Mr. Mensah was survived by his wife and seven children. His passing is a great loss to the nation, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mensah, a native of Prampram in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, was born on May 17, 1946. He received his education at the SNAPS College of Accountancy, where he completed his studies in 1968.

In 1970, he obtained his RSA III certification, and in 1986, he was awarded fellowship status by the Institute of Financial Accountants. Mensah is an accomplished Account Officer, having served in that capacity at the University of Ghana, Legon. In addition to his professional achievements, Mensah is also a seasoned politician.

He was elected to the second parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana during the 1996 Ghanaian General Election, where he secured a total valid vote cast of 15,677, representing 56.10% of the vote.
