Fans Sing For Johnny Depp In Romania To Mark His 60th Birthday

Thousands of fans sang to Johnny Depp in Romania as the Hollywood star celebrated his 60th birthday.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star thanked fans for the “beautiful gesture”, adding that it was “the largest happy birthday song I’ve ever heard”.

It comes as Depp’s band The Hollywood Vampires kicked off their European tour in Bucharest, Romania, on Thursday.

The actor thanked and kissed fans in a video that was uploaded to the band’s Instagram page while placing his palm over his heart. Just over a year has passed since Depp’s triumph in the well-known defamation case he had with his ex-wife Amber Heard. He is now 60 years old.

He filed a $50 million lawsuit against the Aquaman actress, alleging that her 2018 Washington Post article was libellous.

The actor slowly but steadily re-entered the public eye during the previous 12 months, touring with singer Jeff Beck and making an unexpected cameo at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. More recently, he made an appearance at the premiere of the new movie Jeanne Du Barry, in which he portrays King Louis XV, at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

At a press conference during the festival, he said that he had “no further need” for Hollywood and called the trial’s aftermath “a weird joke.”

The supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, which consists of Depp, Cooper, and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, is visiting Europe this summer and will play three shows there in July.

Due to Depp’s ankle fracture, the band was recently forced to postpone several shows in the US.

While conducting an interview with a Romanian television crew before Thursday’s show, Depp briefly broke into his Pirates of the Caribbean character Captain Jack Sparrow while discussing his acting career, work with Hollywood Vampires and the upcoming movie he’s directing, Modigliani.

“I’m gonna direct a movie in September,” Depp said of the production, which is co-produced by Al Pacino and Barry Navidi, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s basically two days in the life of [early 20th-century Italian artist] Amedeo Modigliani… I want to only the films that mean something to me, or at least something I feel like I can add to,” the actor added in the interview.
