Favouritism Is Killing Ghana Music – Paa Dogo

Raymond Kwaku Takyi, better known by his stage name Paa Dogo, has recorded a song titled “African Leaders” for his fans, who have not heard from him since 2001, when he released his debut album “Dogo The Album.” The single drops on March 3, 2023.

The rapper revealed to Tru News Report that the single will mark the first release from his forthcoming 17-track album, “The Genesis,” which drops later this year. The album will predominantly feature underground artistes, and production works from Karis, Proxy Jay, Short, Kindee, and Biskit Beat.

Dogo said he is also “planning to get some good features from Nigeria” as well.

The rapper cited a “lack of good management and some difficulties in the industry” as the reason he had to keep a low profile until he established his own record label, which he calls Dogo Nation Records.

Having been in the industry for nearly three decades, Dogo stated that he understands the difficulties that come with releasing music and making a hit without proper managerial structure; therefore, he plans to retire as a musician following the release of “The Genesis” album and become an international artiste promoter.

He continued by stating that Ghana is too small for him to confine his next artiste promotion endeavor to. He mentioned that he intends to utilize social media to its fullest extent now that it dominates music promotion because “it is a bit easier than before.”

When asked if he is well equipped to venture into artiste promotion, he said, “When a blind man tells you to be ready before he throws you a stone, then it means he has his leg on something.”

The “Osumafour” hitmaker laments that “favoritism is killing the Ghanaian music industry.” It is unclear why he had this thought, but it must have been one of the difficulties aforementioned that led to his keeping a low profile for so long.

Paa Dogo is one of the artistes who emerged with the Hiplife war sound from the keys of Hammer of the Last, generating a great deal of buzz for more than 10 years.
