Five Of Cecilia Dapaah’s Bank Accounts Unfrozen By OSP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has recently undertaken an important action in the investigations of former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, by lifting the freeze on five of her bank accounts.

The decision was made after the investigation reached a point where these accounts had been cleared of any wrongdoing. The OSP posted a statement on Twitter that detailed what was happening and the reasons for this development.

In July of 2023, authorities began looking into allegations of corruption and corruption-related crimes, with particular emphasis on large sums of money and other valuable assets believed to be linked to Ms. Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

In order to speed up the investigation, the Special Prosecutor initially implemented a freezing order on the bank accounts and other financial assets belonging to Ms. Dapaah.

These steps were taken as part of a larger effort to eliminate any potential obstacles to the investigation. Five of Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts, however, have been exonerated of all charges as the investigation continues. On October 16, 2023, the Special Prosecutor took a bold step by lifting the freeze on these five bank accounts.

“The Special Prosecutor took measures, including issuing a freezing order in respect of the bank accounts and other financial assets of Ms. Dapaah, to facilitate the investigation. Subsequently, the investigation has eliminated five (5) of the bank accounts of Ms. Dapaah from suspicion of being tainted property,” the statement reads.

“On October 16, 2023, the Special Prosecutor revoked the freezing order in respect of the eliminated five (5) bank accounts of Ms. Dapaah. The freezing order is still in force and effect in respect of the other bank accounts and financial assets of Ms. Dapaah.”
