Forest Whitaker’s Ex-Wife Keisha Whitaker is Dead

Keisha Whitaker, the former wife of actor Forest Whitaker has been reported dead at the age of 51 after a long struggle with anorexia.

The sad news was shared online by the former couple’s daughter, True Whitaker, on her Instagram Stories saying: “Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond. the most beautiful woman in the world … thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

She posted a nostalgic photo of her mother and expressed her heartfelt tribute, followed by sharing more nostalgic photos along with songs like Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You”.

During their time together, Forest and Keisha had three daughters, with True being the youngest. Their other children are Autumn, aged 32, and Sonnet, aged 27.

The couple first crossed paths on the set of Blown Away in 1994 and they got married two years later. Keisha once described her ex-husband as having a “gentle soul and a nice spirit.”

In 2018, Forest filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, putting an end to their 20-year relationship.

Keisha was also involved in the entertainment industry as an actress and producer. She gained recognition for her role in the 2004 film Proud, which was written by her brother Jeffrey Nash, and for her work as an executive producer on the 2008 movie Kassim the Dream.

Who is Forest Whitaker?

Forest Whitaker is an American actor, producer and director. He is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a British Academy Film Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Forest Steven Whitaker was born on July 15, 1961, in Longview, Texas. His mother, Laura Francis, worked as a special education teacher and managed to earn two master’s degrees while raising her children. His father, Forest E. Whitaker Jr., was an insurance salesman.

A DNA test revealed that his mother had Akan ancestry, while his father was of Igbo descent. When Whitaker was in elementary school, his family relocated to Carson, California. He has two younger brothers and an older sister. Whitaker’s acting career began with his portrayal of the lead character in Dylan Thomas’s play, Under Milk Wood.

Whitaker attended Palisades Charter High School, where he actively participated in the football team and sang in the choir. He graduated in 1979. Initially, he enrolled at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona on a football scholarship but had to change his major to music (singing) due to a back injury.

In 1980, he toured England with the Cal Poly Chamber Singers. While still at Cal Poly, he briefly switched his major to drama before transferring to the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. There, he focused on studying opera as a tenor and was accepted into the university’s Drama Conservatory.
