Abbas, beginning in 1995 as a member of the rap group K-South and later as a solo artist, has shaped and pioneered rap music in East Africa.
Abbas, his sibling KC, and his neighbor’s friend Bamboo founded the band K-South. After KC went AWOL and Bamboo moved to the United States in 2005, the group disbanded. As a solo artist, Abbas is well-known for songs such as “Chapaa” and “Tokelezea”.
He was awarded the Chaguo La Teeniez Awards in 2008 and the Golden Mic in 2011. In 2006, Kubaff released his debut album “Angabanga.” He has performed in Nairobi as the opening act for Coolio, Lost Boyz, Maxi Priest, and Akon. He has also toured extensively in Europe.
In 2014, he released “Ghettoholic,” his fourth studio album.
