GFA Boss Kurt Okraku Heckled By Kumasi Fans After Black Meteors Match

Kurt Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), was booed and heckled by some football supporters at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The unfortunate scene was recorded after Ghana’s U23 side Black Meteors defeated their Algerian counterparts 1-0.

With the victory, Ghana is guaranteed a position in the CAF U-23 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco from June 24 to July 8, 2023, and feature eight teams vying for three Olympic qualification spots.

After the victory, some of the spectators at the Baba Yara Stadium booed the GFA President as he passed by with his retinue, while others could be heard yelling “Away, Away” at the seasoned football official.

Before the incident, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club supporters and Kurt Okraku’s administration had a contentious relationship over what they perceived to be unfairly targeted officiating by referees chosen for betPawa Ghana Premier League games.

Ghana’s Black Meteors qualified ahead of Algeria via a 2-1 aggregate win.
