Ghana Immigration Service Interdicts 27 Officers Over Visa Fraud

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted 27 officials for various offences that have brought the reputation of the service into disrepute.

A statement issued by Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, the Comptroller-General of Immigration alleges that the officers in question violated Regulation 138 (1)(a) and (k) of the Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2245) by, among other things, engaging in recruitment and/or visa fraud.

There were allegations against the concerned officers relative to recruitment and visa fraud, both of which are violations of rules 138(1)(a) and (k) of the Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2245).

The interdiction is intended to permit a thorough investigation into the cases in accordance with Ghana Immigration Service disciplinary actions. In the event that an officer is found guilty, it is made clear that appropriate legal action will be taken.
