Shōgun is a historical drama television miniseries produced by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks. It is adapted from James Clavell’s novel of the same name, which was first made into a miniseries in 1980.
The show debuted its initial two episodes on February 27, 2024, on Hulu and FX, followed by weekly releases of the remaining 10 episodes.
Shōgun depicts the clash between two driven individuals from contrasting backgrounds and a secretive female samurai; John Blackthorne, a daring English seaman who finds himself stranded in Japan, a country whose unique customs will transform him; Lord Toranaga, a cunning, influential daimyo, facing off against his treacherous political adversaries; and Lady Mariko, a woman with exceptional abilities but tainted family connections, who must demonstrate her worth and loyalty.
