Daniel Okoe Lawson, a 24-year-old Ghanaian residing in the United States, has been apprehended by authorities in connection with the untimely demise of his wife, Desire Alexandria Buggs.
The Prince William County Police have disclosed that the suspect is facing charges of murder for the incident that occurred on January 6, 2024. At 5:04 p.m., Lawson brought his injured wife to a local hospital, where medical professionals discovered a gunshot wound.
Despite immediate medical intervention, Desire Alexandria Buggs succumbed to her injuries. The incident reportedly took place earlier that day in Dumfries, near the intersection of Possum Point Road and Leonard Street.
Master Officer Renee Carr of the Prince William County Police has stated that Lawson cooperated with investigators and provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the shooting.
As the investigation progressed, additional information and the suspected weapon were handed over to the police. Upon delving into the intricacies of the case, detectives determined Lawson’s involvement and subsequently took him into custody on Sunday.
He now faces charges of felony murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Lawson is currently being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail.
