Ghanaian Man Attempting Stand-A-Thon Stops Abruptly 4 Hours After He Started
Patrick Amenuvor, the Ghanaian man attempting to surpass the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest-standing marathon in Accra (Stand-a-thon), abruptly stopped his undertaking after approximately four hours.
Originally, Mr. Amenuvor had planned to stand from January 14 to January 21, 2024, aiming to establish a new world record.
However, he has now clarified that he violated certain regulations governing the Standathon challenge, compelling him to terminate the event to uphold his integrity.
He said:
“Due to my integrity and desire to win by fair play, I wish to inform all of my intention to stop my OFFICIAL STAND-A-THON attempt due to some rules I’ve broken that might sabotage my efforts to break the record.
At this point, I deem it fit to get back with my team to review our attempt so far and make sure to avoid any errors that may hinder my future attempt, ” he announced in a release to the public.”
