Ghanaian Man Attempts To Break Longest Painting Marathon
The enthusiasm among Ghanaians to attempt a Guinness World Record or surpass an existing one remains strong.
Despite facing disqualifications and unverified attempts in various fields such as cooking, singing, painting, and ironing, individuals like Mubarikatu Issaka from Akwatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana continue to strive for success.
Issaka is currently aiming to break the record for the longest individual painting marathon at the Xtreme pub in Akwatia.
The current record stands at 100 hours, held by Nigerian art student Chancellor Ahaghotu. Issaka hopes to exceed this by reaching 130 hours within six days.
The rules allow for a five-minute break for every continuous hour of painting or twenty twenty-minute breaks when accumulated for four hours.
Issaka’s sister, Barisa Isaaka, mentioned that the approval for this attempt was granted in December last year, but due to lack of preparation, it was postponed.
“Somewhere in December she told me she wanted to embark on this journey so I encouraged her to apply and she did. Initially, she had wanted to embark on the journey in February but she had to prepare enough, that’s why we decided to start now” she explained.
For now, Mubarikatu is receiving sponsorship from Mr Twum Barima, a successful miner in Akwatia. Other individuals and philanthropists are also supporting her attempt.
