Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the former CEO of the now-closed UT Bank, has opened up about the events that led to the downfall of his company.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) carried out an operation to clean up the banking sector, which resulted in the collapse of many financial institutions, including the UT Bank. There was a lot of finger-pointing directed at Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta because he led the cleanup exercise that resulted in people losing their jobs.
However, Mr Amoabeng stated that Ken Ofori-Atta cannot be held responsible for the banking sector cleanup that ultimately led to the demise of his company during an interview on GTV’s Breakfast show.
He claims that the people of Ghana are to blame because they voted for the present administration and because this decision was made collectively by government officials.
He was then asked if he will vote for NPP he said, “The interesting thing is my sister is an NPP Parliamentary candidate in Abuakwa North and of course, I have to back my sister but the interesting thing is that I have a lot of NPP friends, I told one of them that time I’m NDC he said Kofi you have to go if you don’t we won’t understand, so to answer no I won’t vote NPP, I’ll vote NDC because we need change and the only viable option is the NDC”.
