Henry Ruggs III To Plead Guilty In 2021 Deadly Crash

According to his attorneys, former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will plead guilty in a 2021 high-speed collision that claimed a woman’s life.

According to NBC station KSNV of Las Vegas, Ruggs will enter a guilty plea to felony DUI resulting in death and misdemeanour manslaughter, which carries a penalty of three to 10 years in jail. At a court appearance on Tuesday, his attorneys reportedly disclosed the modification.

His attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld said in a statement that it was the “first step toward a fair resolution to this matter and we look forward to closure for all the parties involved.”

In the incident that claimed the lives of Tina Tintor, 23, and her dog, Ruggs is accused of operating a Corvette at 156 mph while possessing a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit. Ruggs struck Tintor’s Toyota RAV4 from behind at 3:39 in the morning on November 2, 2021.

Tintor’s car caught fire, leading to her death. According to the medical examiner, she suffered heat injuries and died. Soon after the collision, the Raiders released Ruggs, who they had selected in the first round of the 2020 draft. His next court date is May 10, according to online court records.

Montgomery, Alabama, was the place where Henry James Ruggs III was raised. For the final two games of the football team’s season, Ruggs was elevated to the varsity squad in the eighth grade. Robert E. Lee High School was his alma mater.

Ruggs didn’t start playing high school football until his junior year, but he already had a scholarship offer following his first outing.

He recorded 38 catches for 639 yards in nine games as a senior. He completed nine catches, seven rushes, three passes, and one kick return for 20 touchdowns.

In high school, Ruggs also participated in basketball and track; his timing of 10.58 seconds for the 100-meter dash is the class 7A record for the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

Ruggs was listed as Alabama’s second-best high school football player in 2017 by 247Sports.com. Ruggs was given scholarship offers to play football from more than 20 institutions; he decided on the University of Alabama.
