Herbert Wigwe: Nigerian Owner of Access Bank Dies In Helicopter Crash

Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Holdings, along with his wife and son, are believed to be among the six passengers aboard a helicopter that crashed in the US early Saturday.

Reports from The New York Times indicate that the helicopter, a Eurocopter EC130, crashed near the California-Nevada border.

Sources close to the banker have confirmed that Mr. Wigwe, his wife, and son were among the passengers on the ill-fated helicopter.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m local time near Nipton, Calif, an unincorporated community approximately 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County.

The Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) reported the incident, stating that the crash site was east of Interstate 15, near Halloran Springs Road.

Investigations into the crash are being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board (N.T.S.B.) and the Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.). Representatives from the N.T.S.B. are expected to arrive at the scene on Saturday.
