I Am A Witch – Songstress Efya Says In Fresh Interview

Efya recently made a bizarre revelation about herself to media personality Doreen Avio on Joy Prime on why the colour black is her favourite.

According to her, she is a witch and since black is associated with mysticism in our part of the world, she considers herself a witch, she said with a tone of sarcasm.

Why not black though?? I feel like it blends with every other colour. You can wear black shoes and a red dress and it’s still popping. I think black is something that fits most of the time. Also, I like it because you know I’m a witch.

Even more strangely, the singer who has won the Female Vocalist of the Year award at the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards multiple times stated that she won’t mind wearing black as an alternative colour for her wedding.

“Yes, it’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do but I’m not sure anymore. We’ll see,” she said.

The Ghanaian songstress further said working night as a result of the constant bouts of insomnia she experiences ignited her interest in the colour black and darkness which has became her signature aesthetic and also inspired her Twitter handle, @Efya_Nokturnal.

“I have insomnia, I don’t really sleep at night and it’s been like that for a very long time. So, I figured I might as well make it cool because I’m a very Nocturnal being and I come alive at night. Most of the time I like to work late at night because it’s quiet and there’s a different energy,” she concluded.

Efya is the daughter of late television personality and director Nana Adwoa Awindor, who hosted the popular program Greetings From Abroad.

When Efya took part in the inaugural Stars of the Future talent competition, she experienced her first taste of celebrity. Beginning in 2011, she won the Ghana Music Awards four times in a row for Best Female Vocal Performance. In addition, her act at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards received praise]
