“I Was Shocked The President Didn’t Talk About The Ashaiman Incident” – Nyaho-Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, said he was surprised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not discuss the recent military brutalities in his whole State of the Nation Address on March 8.

According to 3newsonline.com, the former soldier stated that the president should not have ignored such a critical security problem in his address to the country.

“I was shocked the president didn’t talk about the Ashaiman incident. This is an important national issue that shouldn’t have escaped his attention.”

Moreover, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe demanded that Dominic Nitiwul, the Minister of Defense, be fired or forced to resign. He said:

The Minister of Defense should resign for failing to properly advise the president on the Ashaiman incident. Why didn’t he speak himself, but his deputy spoke? “If indeed he is in the country, then that’s wrong.

President Akufo-Addo gave his State of the Nation Address to Parliament on March 8, 2023. The President’s Speech included several statements on the NPP government’s cautious spending and borrowing habits, and Cassiel Ato Forson said the current economic crisis in Ghana is due to the incompetence of the Akufo-Addo government.

In his submission to Parliament after the President’s state of the nation address on March 8, Ato Forson said:

Ghanaians are going through unbearable hardships and excruciating pains. Our economy is at its worst shape in decades, in fact Ghana’s economy is bankrupt or insolvent. We are currently unable to repay our debts, Ghana has officially defaulted in the repayment of our debt since January 2022.

Mr. Speaker, yet Mr. President your government is falling to cut the size of government down and public expenditure,” Mr. Forson stated on the floor of Parliament in response to President Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation Address on March 8, 2023.

“Mr. President, our economy is in tatters largely because it is self-inflicted. Your government inflicted it on us and failed to act. Mr. President this is your scorecard and this is the true state of our nation.”

In his speech, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said that Ghana’s economy was thriving until the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis broke out, and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has acknowledged this, he stated.

The president covered a lot of ground on the economy, but he didn’t mention the notorious military brutality that occurred at Ashaiman less than twenty-four hours before.

On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, armed men reportedly stormed Ashaiman Official Town in search of the murderers responsible for the death of a young soldier.

Several videos of the event were taken by residents, and they quickly went viral. In the videos, soldiers can be seen beating and violently abusing people on the street.
