Ashaiman: Police Release Report On Suspects Responsible For Death Of Soldier

In a new development of the young soldier who was murdered at Ashaiman, the police have detained the main suspects in the murder.

In a press conference on Friday night, the police stated that the capture of the main suspects was the result of a one-week operation that was intelligence-led. Police have not released the names of the accused.

“The Police after a week of sustained intelligence-led operation have arrested the key suspects involved in the murder of Imoro Sherrif, the soldier who was found dead at Taifa Ashaiman on 4th March 2023,” the terse brief from the police said.

Background to soldier murdered at Ashaiman 

On Friday, March 3, 2023, the soldier, who was raised in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region and was stationed in Sunyani in the Bono Region, asked his commanders for approval to return home and visit his parents in Ashaiman.

The 21-year-old soldier identified as Private Sherrif Imoro was discovered dead in a pool of blood on Saturday morning.

His murder sparked a military invasion in the Ashaiman neighbourhood on Tuesday, where many people were brutalized during an operation authorized by the Military High Command to attack the area and find the perpetrators.

Private Sherrif Imoro has since been laid to rest in line with Islamic religion.
