On Monday, March 20, Chris Hughton addressed the media during his formal unveiling at the SG Mall in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, saying he would develop the players at his disposal and foster a winning mentality to help achieve some success.
Chris Hughton furthered that his primary goal is to use his experiences over the years to create a successful squad for Ghana’s Senior National squad.
“There will be questions, why is this player playing and why is that player playing, but ultimately I want to see a winning team and…using the players to the best of their abilities,” Chris Hughton said.
The former Newcastle manager also explained that his standing and credentials at the highest level of football management have equipped him with the right skills and expertise for the Black Stars job.
“My standing and credentials at this level I think that is good. I have a lot of experience as a head coach and I will use that experience to pick the team, pick the players and adjust to less training and preparation time for a game.”
The former Black Stars technical director also pledged to pay closer attention to the regional competition and find players who adhere to his footballing philosophies.
Tilting his attraction to the 2022 World Cup staged in Qatar, Hughton labelled Ghana’s campaign as a huge disappointment. The loss to Uruguay, which in his opinion the Black Stars should have won, was the greatest letdown.
