I Would Rather Die Than Participate In Legalising Homosexuality In Ghana – Alban Bagbin

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has stated unequivocally that he does not want to see homosexuality legalised in Ghana.

As a conservative man, he stated that he would rather die than live in a time when LGBTQI people are given equal rights.

Speaker Bagbin, speaking to reporters in Tamale over the weekend, warned that the West, which has been a leading advocate for gay rights, is already feeling its consequences. He warned that the gay and lesbian community was responsible for the extinction of native populations across most of Europe, and that the sooner Ghana put a stop to such behaviour, the better.

“For you all to participate in it, count me out of Ghana,” the Speaker of Parliament said. I will prefer to join my Maker than to live. That is me. I am a Catholic and pro-life. I will not do anything that will end the world because God says the world is eternal. Until He comes back, we cannot do that to end the world… They have the repercussions in their country, and I can tell you that in the next 50 years, there will be no indigenous Europeans in the world,” he said.

He was adamant that the anti-gay bill would be signed into law during his time as Speaker. Parliament is now debating a bill to promote “proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values.”

He made some remarks at Westminster, London, during a meeting with a wide range of members of the British House of Lords and the House of Commons in April 2023 that, despite threats to cut off investments, international aid, and other stringent economic measures, the African continent will continue to protect its culture, values, and societal norms and ensure the future of its youth.

A total of eight members of parliament from the majority and minority caucuses put forward the motion. Sam Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Elder at Perez Chapel International, is at the forefront of the campaign to approve the bill.
