“If You Claim To Look Like A Celebrity, Then Find Money, Because I Don’t Come On Live To Ask For MOMO” Says Medikal To Celebrity Lookalikes

Rapper Medikal has resorted to social media to warn young men who go about impersonating celebrities to grow up and get real jobs.

In a video that he posted online, Medikal complained that the spotlight had shifted away from the real musicians and onto those who mimicked them for financial gain.

Even while musicians appreciate the compliment, lookalikes who take advantage of the artiste and their effort have gone too far, Medikal remarked.

The rapper urged the young men to stop depending on him and start making money on their own.

He said that as an artiste, he always encourages his followers to work hard and make more money; thus, no real fan would pretend to look like him and sit on social media begging for money.

This follows a trend of impersonators in the country, including those of popular musicians like Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Medikal, King Promise, and others. At certain events, some of them have been heard singing the songs of these artistes they resemble.

Many members of the public have voiced their disapproval of the occurrence, with some asking for a seizure and others urging artistes to use caution. Meanwhile, attorney Godwin Selasi Owusu has stated that mimicking a celebrity might result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

“If you claim to look like me and so want to live like me, fine then find the money. Because Medikal is always looking for money, I am always preaching about money, telling people to grind, not to give up, to forget everybody, and keep going hard, so why are you online asking for MOMO? Because Medikal doesn’t come on live to ask for MOMO.”
