Just In: Guinness World Records Confirms Hilda Baci’s Cooking Record

Having waited with bated breath for her incredible feat to be officially certified, Hilda Baci is now the official record holder for the longest cooking marathon, according to Guinness World Records.

On Tuesday, this was verified on their official website.

The post reads, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

“The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.

“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.”

The previous record of 87 hours 45 minutes was set by Lata Tondon (India) in 2019.

The Guinness World Records had previously explained why it was yet to ratify Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s new record for the most hours spent cooking.

Baci is trending all over social media smashed the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.

Weeks ago, the cook broke the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held by Lata Tondon, who is no longer the Guinness World Record holder. On Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Hilda started the competition by turning on her cooker.

As the first person ever to spend so much time cooking, Hilda continues to cook for 96 hours despite having already shattered the previous record.

However, Guinness World Records announced that it would first analyze all the proof before formally confirming the record. AlexanderDGreat on Twitter questioned why Hilda’s new record was not mentioned by Guinness World Records.

“Why is Guinness World Record not showing or talking about Hilda‘s cook-a-ton? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube),” he tweeted.

In response, GWR said; “We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record”.
