Man Suspected To Be Tupac Shakur’s Killer Arrested

27 years after iconic rapper, Tupac Shakur was murdered in cold blood, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the man suspected to be his killer has been arrested.

Las Vegas law enforcement authorities have reportedly apprehended an unnamed man believed to be connected to the homicide of the renowned rapper, which occurred almost thirty years ago.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the Las Vegas Police Department announced on Friday, September 29, 2023, the arrest of a suspect in relation to the aforementioned crime. Details of the identity of the man have not been disclosed yet since the report is still developing.

The recent apprehension of Duane “Keffe D” Davis occurred two months subsequent to a police raid on his wife’s residence in Henderson on July 17. During a press conference held on Friday, authorities presented Davis as the alleged mastermind behind a plot to avenge an attack on his nephew by orchestrating the murder of Tupac Shakur.

Davis himself has acknowledged in interviews and in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he was in the front seat of the white Cadillac that pulled up alongside Shakur’s car when shots were fired from the back seat, resulting in the musician’s death.

Davis had been under investigators’ scrutiny as one of the four initial suspects in the case. Furthermore, the grand jury has decided to include a sentencing enhancement for gang activity, which could potentially add up to 20 more years to his sentence if he is found guilty.

Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, the rapper’s sister, issued a statement on Friday expressing her perspective on the arrest, describing it as a significant moment. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the impact of Tupac Shakur’s passing on their community and called for acknowledgement from the world, the country, the justice system, and their people, underscoring the gravity of her brother’s loss.

“This is no doubt a pivotal moment. The silence of the past 27 years surrounding this case has spoken loudly in our community,” she said. “It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son.”
