Kaakie Announces Return To Music

Ghanaian singer Kaakie has revealed exciting news regarding her eagerly awaited return after going off the radar for over seven years on the music scene.

Working with the gifted Samini, she captured Ghanaians’ attention in the early 2010s with a string of successes that peaked at the top of the charts. However, she abruptly left the music business after she split up with the High-Grade family, her record label.

It was announced in 2018 that she was traveling to the United States of America to further her education. In an interview with 3FM in Accra, Kaakie disclosed her intentions to triumphantly reenter the music scene. She conveyed her appreciation for her husband’s and other prominent members of the industry’s unwavering support.

She expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support she has received from her husband and other influential figures within the industry. With unwavering determination, Kaakie firmly believes that she will reclaim her rightful place in the music industry.

“Actually I came in purposely…So by God’s grace, I’m coming back to the scene, and we are working hard. I haven’t just been silent. I have been working behind the scenes and I haven’t been alone. I’ve had genuine support from my husband; he’s been pushing me, and I’ve also met people that were in the scene,” she said on Accra-based 3FM.

Kaakie’s real name is Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey. Hailing from Ghana, Kaakie is a talented dancehall artist who made her mark in the music industry by signing her first record deal with Xtra Large Music.

Growing up, she had a deep passion for music and enjoyed listening to various genres, often performing karaoke versions of her favourite songs.

During her time at university, she seized an opportunity to participate in the popular reality show, Stars Of The Future, which aired on Ghanaian TV.

Although she showcased her singing abilities throughout the competition, she unfortunately faced elimination and secured the 5th position.

However, this setback led her to cross paths with the esteemed Ghanaian Sound Engineer and Executive Producer, JMJ Baby (Joshua Raphaelson), through Charter House. Impressed by her talent, JMJ Baby signed her to his record label, XTRA LARGE MUSIC.
