KK Fosu Finally Addresses Controversy Surrounding His ‘Oga’ Song

After several years, musician Kaakyire Kwame Fosu (KK Fosu) has finally spoken out about the controversy surrounding his song Oga, which was believed to be a diss track aimed at his friend Samini.

At the peak of his music career, KK Fosu, who was previously part of a group with Samini and Kokoveli known as the Trinity, released the song Oga which contained direct jabs at an unspecified individual.

Many Ghanaians interpreted the lyrics as targeting Samini, leading to tension between the two artists. However, in a recent interview on Onua TV, KK Fosu clarified that the song was not intended for Samini as widely assumed.

He explained that the song was meant to reflect on life’s realities rather than as a personal attack on someone he considered to be like “Family”.

“The song was not directed at Samini. I write all my songs based on issues with life. I write my songs after I have experienced what life has to offer.

I have been consistent about this and I say this all the time but people don’t believe it,” he clarified to Felicia Osei during the interview.

It is worth noting that some time ago, Samini clarified that his track Igwe was not aimed at KK Fosu, even though it inspired Fosu’s Oga song.

During an appearance on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review a few years ago, Samini emphasized that his song was not intended as a diss towards KK Fosu.

“I composed a track called Igwe and a line in Gogome’s lines said, ‘You for remember Sudwe Sudwe and co…” So KK felt Gogome said he will let their current go low. But Gogome was trying to tell the people that they should remember things Batman has done ‘Sudwe Sudwe and co’.

KK took it personally based on the rap of that song and came with Oga,” Samini said to dispel assertions that he always has issues with his fellow artistes.

On why the Trinity group went their separate ways, Samini said his attention on his solo album made the other members think he was going solo.

According to him, both Kokoveli and KK Fosu had their albums and it was time for him to come out with his own album as well.

“I featured on both Kokoveli and KK’s tracks. Both were solo artistes with albums. I was only featuring on their songs and other people’s songs, getting ready to go into the studio to do my album.

So the misunderstanding started coming when I didn’t have too much time to go on road with them because I had to do Batman. Trinity wasn’t a group like Praye or VVIP.

It was even the newspapers who wrote that name first before we took it on ourselves. My group felt I was going solo but I was doing my album, Samini explained.
