Kumasi Technical Institute Expels Over 500 Students For Misconduct

Approximately 500 students from Kumasi Technical Institute in the Ashanti Region have been given indefinite suspensions for various forms of misconduct and violations of school policy. This is in response to the extensive damage to school property during a rampage.

According to Citinews, on May 17, a group of students who all resided in the boarding house allegedly went on a rampage and damage school property.

Though they did not provide any further details of what happened, school officials emphasised that the measure was took to enforce discipline in the school. An official report detailing the pupils’ inappropriate behaviour has been sent to the Technical and Vocational Education Training Directorate.

According to the report, the students in question didn’t show up to a general assembly parade on Friday, when the authorities did a roll call. Therefore, the students were asked to remove all of their belongings from the dorms and report to the school’s disciplinary committee as soon as they are summoned. 

The officials will reportedly hold a meeting with the families of the affected students to clarify what happened. As a result of what happened. The school was visited by the Police Commander of the Manhvia Divisional Command, who spoke to the remaining students and urged them to follow the rules.
