Lagos Big Girl Who Was Saved From Jumping Into Lagoon Speaks

Farida Sobowale, a prominent Nigerian socialite, has provided an explanation for her recent suicide attempt when she tried to jump off the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on the evening of August 17th.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Farida revealed that the dissolution of her marriage to fellow Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, just two months after their lavish N100 million wedding, had caused her immense emotional distress. Following his departure from their shared home, Farida has been plagued by a persistent desire to end her own life.

She revealed in a fresh post why she went suicidal, as depicted by the following words:

“Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant. It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him.

I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide. I have forgiven my ex-husband.

May God provide him with another wife,” she said.

On the evening of August 17, Farida Sobowale, a prominent Lagos socialite and beauty entrepreneur of House of Phreeda, was rescued from an attempted suicide on Third Mainland Bridge. Ms. Sobowale had driven her Lexus SUV to the bridge and was about to jump into the Lagoon when she was saved by individuals present at the scene.

Videos circulating online depict Ms. Sobowale, dressed in black, weeping as she was held by her rescuers. Ms. Sobowale made headlines two months ago when she celebrated her nuptials with Demola, which was the talk of the town in Lagos. However, rumors have surfaced that their marriage has since dissolved, which may have contributed to Ms. Sobowale’s current mental health struggles.
