Licensed Gun Holders To Receive Training In Shooting – Interior Minister Hints

The Police administration will soon create a firing range to train all individuals who have been granted a license to use firearms, according to Interior Minister Ambrose Dery.

He added that the Ghana Immigration Service, the police department, and other organizations would also receive the training. He promised that owners of unlicensed firearms will be subject to the full force of the law.

On Tuesday, August 1, he made these comments in an interview with the media, praising the police for detaining the alleged thieves who had ambushed a bullion truck in Ablekuma and killed an officer in the process.

“I want to thank the public, the public has greater confidence in the Police now and they are collaborating by giving information to get to the bottom of those things.

“You do know that we have started registration of arms even for the security agencies, we have done it for the Police, we have done it for immigration. we continue to do that.

“The Police are very soon going to open a shooting range where they will train all those given permission. Those who have not been given permission would be dealt with according to law,” he said.

In other news, a young man who hails from Dadease in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti region has revealed how he was subjected to brutality at the hands of the police in the area after they stormed his house to effect his arrest.

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, a viral video of the incident revealed the suspect (now the victim), who was apparently resisting arrest. As a result, the police officer had to put a belt around the suspect’s neck, drag him to the ground, and take him by tricycle to the police station.

The incriminated cop has been placed under arrest after the disturbing footage drew worldwide condemnation. They have guaranteed the victim’s relatives that a complete investigation will be carried out.

The man, who had obvious physical scars, made significant accusations against the police in his interview with Citi FM. When he got to the police station, he said, the cops hung him, tasered him, and assaulted him with a machete.

He recounted, “The police officer tried arresting me, and I told him to leave me alone since I had not done anything wrong. He tied a belt around my neck and dragged me on the floor. Upon arriving at the police station, they handcuffed me and hit me with a machete multiple times. They hanged me at the police station. They later took me to Kumawu police station and subsequently to the Mampong police command yesterday, where the officer who beat me was also detained. After taking me to the hospital, I have now been granted bail.”

When asked about the reason for his arrest, the victim explained, “I took iron rods from my master, but when he asked me about it a month ago, he cautioned me not to do that again, and that was the end of the matter. So I don’t know why I was arrested again this time around.”

According to additional information supplied by Graphic Online, the victim was taken to the hospital and given bail on Friday afternoon as a result of the Inspector General of Police’s involvement.
