Lil Wayne Takes Aim At The Top Spot: Claims He’s The G.O.A.T., Not Jay-Z

The hip hop world is abuzz with debate over who is the all-time greatest rapper, as adjudged by the recent Billboard/Vibe Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list.

The list placed Biggie, Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay-Z, respectively, before Lil Wayne, pushing the CMYMB boss into the discussion, and he believes he is rather the GOAT, the greatest of all time.

In an interview, Lil Wayne was asked about his views on the list which placed Jay-Z at the top. Wayne was adamant in his response, stating: “Who the Hell Is Before Me?, I am No. 1.”

This statement was met with a wave of controversy from both Jay-Z and Lil Wayne supporters. Fans of both artists took to social media to voice their opinions, with some even calling for a rap battle between the two.

Certainly, regardless of the outcome of the debate, both artists are highly regarded in the rap industry. However, it appears that many concur with the notion that Wayne is, in fact, superior to Jay-Z, both in terms of rapping ability and cultural influence, which is how these things should be measured.

It appears that Billboard ranks Jay-Z as the number one artist due to his overall success.

Consequently, their numbers are comparable. Lil Wayne has three number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, while Jay has four. However, Wayne has 25 songs in the top 10 of the charts historically, while Jay has only 22. Thus, on a song-by-song basis, they are comparable.

Before the buzz, Lil Wayne went Hard on a new track “Kant Nobody” Ft. DMX.

We pose the question to you. Who is your all-time favorite rapper?
