Mahama Hits Back At Akufo-Addo Over Weapon-Wielding NDC Supporters

John Dramani Mahama has swiftly responded to Nana Akufo-Addo’s remarks regarding the National Democratic Congress (NDC) members who stormed his Cantonments office armed with weapons for a supposed clean-up a few days ago.

The NDC flagbearer for the 2024 elections accused Akufo-Addo of overseeing a brutal crime in Ayawaso West Wuogon in 2020, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals. Mahama further claimed that President Akufo-Addo did not express any sympathy towards the families of the deceased individuals during the chaos, which he alleged was sponsored by the state.

CitiNews recently published a report on their Twitter account, sharing Nana Akufo-Addo’s statement. The news was accompanied by a flyer featuring the prominent headline. Upon coming across this news, Mahama swiftly responded, expressing his belief that the president lacks the moral authority to make such statements.

Mr Mahama said:

“This is a bit rich, coming from the president who superintended the mayhem at Ayawaso West Wogon and has not had word of sympathy for the families of our 8 compariots who died from state-sponsored violence in 2020,” Mr Mahama posted on his X page on November 28, 2023.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reacted to the development at the Valedictory Service for the outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante.

He made it clear that the actions carried out by the NDC faithful will not be tolerated before, during, or after the December 2024 general elections. The president reassured the people of Ghana that his administration is working tirelessly to restore the economy to its pre-COVID-19 state.

He expressed confidence in fulfilling this promise before his term came to an end. Nana Addo strongly condemned the behaviour of the NDC youth and emphasized that such actions will not be accepted in the upcoming December 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Recall that in a video shared by GHOne TV and anchored by Serwaa Amihere, the youth were seen wielding offensive weapons and chanting war songs, ready to deal with any NPP members who wanted to picket at Mahama’s office after Fixing The Country Movement decided to organize a notorious protest against former president John Dramani Mahama.
