Selasie Mortey and Selinam Mortey have made history as the first brothers to compete the final of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) at different times.
Selasie was a finalist in 2019, while Selinam competed in the final in 2023 and made history by winning it. The NSMQ is a highly esteemed academic competition in Ghana that tests students’ knowledge of science and mathematics.
Only the top schools in the country qualify to compete, making it a very competitive event. The Mortey family’s achievement is a testament to their intelligence and hard work, as well as their commitment to education and academic excellence.
The younger Mortey was inspired by his older brother’s appearance in 2019 and made it his goal to join PRESEC’s NSMQ team, which he successfully accomplished.
