My Dad Was Surprised- Davido Recounts How He Earned N20 Million At 17

Davido has disclosed that he signed a multimillion-naira ambassadorial contract when he was just 17 years old and that greatly surprised his billionaire dad.

In a recent interview, the award-winning musician with several hit songs to his name stated that when a telecommunications firm offered him a $20 million endorsement deal, he only had two songs. Because none of his family members had ever seen that kind of money before, the serial hitman claimed that it was a big thing for them.

Davido said: “I remember when MTN, a telecommunication company came and they were like, they want to do endorsement, but then he (dad) was like, how much, and I said 20 million. I was 17. Nobody has seen that kind of money.

“Wow, this is from Music, and it’s off like two songs, of course. I’m like, ‘Daddy, see, we can do this’.

“He looking at it, he built me a studio and gave me some money to run my stuff and did my first album, and it came out really really successful.”

Davido was in the news recently when he introduced Nigerian dancer Poco Lee to famous American singer and dancer Davido.

The ‘Gimme Dat’ singer joined Davido and Poco Lee in the ‘Unavailable’ viral dance challenge from the Timeless album.

Davido presented the two in a video that he posted, taking care to mention how talented they are dancers by equating them to the late pop singer Michael Jackson.

Davido pointed at the Nigerian dancer and called him Poco Jackson while doing the same for the Grammy-winning American musician as Chris and Poco were snapping pictures. Along with his backing dancers, Chris Brown joined the challenge with Poco Lee and demonstrated some of his dance moves.

Sharing the video, OBO captioned; “Had to bring together two of the most fire dancers from two different worlds. GUESS WHO?! UNAVAILABLE challenge STILL goin’! Just ask the family”
