Nat Banini: Veteran Actor Now A Nurse In The US For 17 Years

Veteran Ghanaian actor Nat Banini has explained why he made a significant career change by leaving the movie industry due to its low income and uncertain future and relocating to the United States to pursue a career in nursing.

As a professional nurse, he has been dedicated to his work for seventeen years, which explains his absence from the silver screen, a development that has added a new aura to entertainment in Ghana.

Recently, he was interviewed by Geovani Caleb on 3FM, where he shared some insights about his life and the new chapter he embarked on.

According to Nat, becoming a nurse was not an overnight decision, but rather a long and challenging journey. In the United States, the nursing profession holds great importance, prompting him to transition from the arts to the field of science.

I didn’t become a nurse overnight; it’s been a long journey. In the US, for you to become a nurse is a big thing.  So, I switched from the arts to science.

An art person like me should never think of working in a hospital but if you travel and want to be smart and find out, you will…Its all travel and see it’s not easy but you have to do what you got to do. Of course [I miss the screens].

Once you are a bus driver, all they need to do is to put you behind the steering and you will go. Acting is life so I do miss it, There are a lot of things we have learnt migrating from Ghana to this place.

One of the biggest problems we have in Ghana is how to use time, you come on set and you delay because somebody is not getting it right, Banini told Giovani.

In contemplation of his nursing profession, he expressed that he has acquired the self-assurance to trust in his abilities and the determination to consistently deliver tasks of high quality. Nat further remarked that, unlike Ghana, the United States offers opportunities for individuals of all ages to pursue their aspirations.

“In the United States, one of the greatest things is that opportunity is there for everybody to do what they want. I see 60-year-old people going for their high school and secondary school certifications. It does not matter the age, so long as you can avail yourself,” he concluded.
