NFL Star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Displays Ghanaian Culture By Rocking Kente Cloth To Open Game Of 2023/2024 Season

Fans were mesmerized by Ghanaian NFL star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah as he proudly displayed his rich background in traditional Kente clothing prior to the Cleveland Browns’ 2023–24 season opener versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ahead of the game, linebacker Owusu-Koramoah donned a bright Kente fabric, embellished with vibrant Ghanaian patterns, and finished his traditional attire with sandals, paying homage to the culture and traditions of his birthplace. He next performed the well-known Adowa dance, which highlights important Ashanti customs, to the audience’s delight.

Fans were genuinely moved by the sight of Owusu-Koramoah embracing his Ghanaian background with pride, demonstrating the effectiveness of sports in promoting cultural understanding and celebrating diversity.

The passion and pride Owusu-Koramoah demonstrated off the field seemed to carry over as the game progressed. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns found themselves comfortably in the lead. The Browns had a 24-3 advantage going into the fourth quarter, setting up an exciting clash.

The Cleveland Browns are attempting to improve upon their disappointing regular-season AFC North regular-season result from the previous year.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, an American football linebacker for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL), was born on November 4, 1999.

He played collegiate football for Notre Dame, where, in 2020 as a senior, he received the Butkus Award, was awarded the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and was recognized as an undisputed All-American. The Browns selected Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Owusu-Koramoah attended Bethel High School while growing up in Hampton, Virginia.

Through his father, Andrew, who met his wife Beverly in England before relocating to Virginia in 1998, he is descended from Ghanaians. Three-star recruit Owusu-Koramoah had originally committed to play collegiate football for the University of Virginia in 2016, but he later changed his mind and chose Notre Dame.
