Nigeria Election 2023: Banky W Loses As Labour Party Wins Eti-Osa House Of Reps Seat

On Sunday, INEC announced that Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP) has won the election for the House of Representatives seat for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.

Mr. Attah won the election with a majority of the votes, defeating well-known musician Bankole Wellington (aka Banky W) and Babjide (son of Musiliu Obanikoro, a former secretary of state for defense).

Attah received 24,075 votes, which was more than his opponents, Mr. Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 18,666 votes, and Mr. Babajide Obanikoro of the APC, who received 16,901 votes.

Before the presiding officer even announced the result, there was chaos between the party agents and INEC authorities regarding its authenticity.

The declaration of the results was rejected by both the APC and the PDP until their concerns were heard and resolved.

Aderemi Adeshina, the PDP agent, told the (NAN) that there were problems at several polling places in the LGA where voters were prevented from casting ballots. According to Adeshina, the BVAS machine did not send the results from some of the units that were recorded after the polls.

He vowed that they would not accept the outcome until new elections were held in every district where they had been denied a vote.

Several law enforcement and military personnel were reportedly there to keep the calm and prevent any injuries from happening.
