In a video that has gone viral online, members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are seen thwarting an alleged effort to buy votes in Owerri, Imo state.
According to reports, thugs and operatives from one party entered a polling place and engaged in vote buying until the EFCC showed up.
A gunfight resulted from the anti-graft agency’s agents pursuing the party goons. In the footage, security officers can be seen firing gunshots and running after the thugs in their trucks.
Also in the news, Tru News Report has revealed that Governor Samuel Ortom of the state of Benue has reportedly cast his ballot for Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the ongoing presidential election.
Even though he belongs to the same political party as Atiku Abubakar, the PDP nominee he voted for Peter Obi reinforces the notion that all is not well in their camp.
Along with Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi of Enugu State, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Ortom is one of the G-5 governors who are having issues with Atiku.
His thumbprint was plainly visible on the labour party symbol on the ballot paper he was holding in the photo. It is unknown if he displayed the ballot and his decision on purpose or if the press simply snapped a photo of it.
