Nigerian Actor Who Worked As Uber Driver Abroad Shares His Experience
Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Brainard, who transitioned to working as an Uber driver overseas after an unexpected halt to his career and relocating outside Nigeria, recently discussed his journey in a new interview.
Brainard revealed that he had to start from scratch by driving for Uber, despite his success in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Brainard recounted his experiences during a podcast conversation with media personality Teju Oyelakin, professionally known as Teju Babyface.
He acknowledged the challenges of moving abroad but explained that he made the decision years ago to join his wife in a different country. The Nollywood star shared that his Nigerian passengers often recognize him while driving and express disbelief, approaching him to confirm his identity.
Brainard emphasized that he prefers being celebrated and respected in Nigeria rather than being anonymous abroad, where life is tough and working menial jobs to survive is not something his wife appreciates.
