Nigerian Artiste Rexxie Arrested In Uganda
Nigerian singer Rexxie has reportedly been arrested in Uganda. The musician, who is signed to Marlian Music, took to his official Instagram page on Monday morning to inform his fans about his arrest.
Rexxie mentioned that he was currently in the custody of Ugandan Immigration, but he did not provide any specific details regarding the cause of his arrest, deeming it ‘unfair.’
The producer called for help and urged fans to demand his release with the hashtag, “UgandaFreeRexxie.”
The ‘Ko Por Ke’ crooner wrote; “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help. This is so unfair! HELP HELP HELP!!! #UgandaFreeRexxie”
Relatedly, in a recent interview, Tems, who was arrested alongside his colleague Omah Lay in Uganda, provided further insight into their unfortunate experience.
Tems and Omah Lay performed separately at a concert held at Speke Resort in Kampala on December 12, 2020.
Following their arrest, which garnered significant media attention, both artists were subsequently detained in prison. However, they were released a few days later due to the intervention of the Nigerian government.
During the interview, Tems recounted spending two nights in jail. Despite the allegations of breaking COVID-19 restrictions, the ‘Try Me’ hit-maker vehemently denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the entire situation was a setup.
The Grammy-winning singer expressed her belief that her time in jail served a higher purpose and even mentioned that she was already adjusting to the environment, highlighting her ability to adapt quickly.
