Nollywood Actor, Zulu Adigwe Is Dead

Nollywood has lost another stalwart player after news emerged that Zulu Adigwe has passed on. The heartbreaking news was verified by film producer Stanley Nwoko via Instagram.

He posted:

“I regret to announce the passing of a veteran actor, late Mr Zulu Adigwe.

“What caused his death is yet to be reviewed. Rest in peace good actor,” he added.

The cause of his death has not been shared as of the time of filing this report.

This year has witnessed the unfortunate demise of seven prominent Nollywood figures. The list includes Sisi Quadri, Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu, and Junior Pope.

Adigwe’s passion for acting began at the age of seven. He made his debut on Nigerian television in Basi and Company, taking on the role of Mr. B.

This character was previously portrayed by Albert Egbe, who departed the show due to a disagreement with the creator Ken Saro-Wiwa. Adigwe’s portrayal of Mr. B showcased a new persona as a guitar-playing idler who composed and sang catchy tunes about getting rich quickly.

He even sang the new theme song for Basi and Company, and an album titled Mr. B Makes His Millions was launched by Polygram Nigeria in 1990.

In 1991, Adigwe was part of the original cast of Checkmate, playing the role of the lustful university lecturer Monday Edem in the pilot episode.

However, the role was recast when production shifted from Enugu to Lagos. His debut film, Blood of the Orphan, received critical acclaim and brought him recognition.

In 2004, he starred in Living Abroad, directed by Elvis Chuks, alongside Ernest Asuzu, Emeka Enyiocha, and Anne Njemanze. In 2019, Adigwe portrayed Pascal Nworie in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.
