Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known popularly as Wontumi has boldly stated that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is out of the flagbearership race of the NPP.
According to him, it’s sad to see Alan, with this vast political experience tucked under his sleeves, end up this way because the November contest is now going to be strictly between Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In any case, he swiftly added that Alan should have accepted the proposal of partnering with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the NPP’s 2024 ticket.
Chairman Wontumi further expressed his belief that securing third place in the Super Delegates Conference has effectively removed Alan Kyerematen from the running for leadership of the NPP.
He further posits that attention will now be directed towards Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong. Chairman Wontumi has previously stated that this outcome would have provided Mr. Kyerematen with the opportunity to realize his aspirations of leading the NPP.
“Alan Kyerematen should have taken the offer presented by Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu,” he said.As per the statement made by Chairman Wontumi, based on the figures presented by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, it would be advisable for the other candidates to withdraw from the upcoming November 4 election. Chairman Wontumi opines that if they proceed with their candidacy, they will incur significant costs, which he refers to as “Political School Fees”.
