Ofori Amponsah Sends Advice To Ampong Over Beef With Daddy Lumba
Ofori Amponsah recently engaged in a discussion with blogger Zionfelix, shedding light on the conflict between Isaac Ampong and the renowned Daddy Lumba.
The dispute, according to Amponsah, had a negative impact on the reputations of both esteemed artistes. Ofori Amponsah maintained that if he had any sort of connection or rapport with Ampong, he would have advised him that his approach to addressing his grievances was incorrect.
Furthermore, Amponsah praised his former mentor, Daddy Lumba, emphasizing that he could never speak ill of him. He attributed a significant portion of his success to the support he received from the veteran musician. While acknowledging the allegations of mishandled finances during their collaboration, Amponsah stressed that focusing solely on the negatives would undermine Lumba’s substantial contributions to his life and career.
Expressing his gratitude, Ofori Amponsah recounted moments where Lumba’s assistance, including paying a modest school fee of Ghc200, made a significant difference in his life.
“I can never say anything ill about Daddy Lumba,” Amponsah emphasized. “He played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. If not for him, I wouldn’t be where I am “Sure, there might have been misunderstandings about money but the good he did for me far outweighs any negatives. He helped me when I needed it the most,” he said.
The longstanding dispute between Ampong and Lumba, which has lasted for over seven years, finally came to a close this year. During an interview at Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the gospel musician announced that he had decided to give up.
The feud between the two artists began when Great Ampong accused Daddy Lumba of being greedy and keeping GH¢360,000 from the proceeds of their collaborative album launch, Hosanna. Although the issue remains unresolved and Great Ampong has yet to receive his share of the money, he has chosen to move on. This decision was influenced by advice from chiefs and respected individuals who have been involved in the dispute.
Ampong said:
Cheating is painful, but enough is enough. I have been advised by some chiefs and prestigious people to let the matter slide. Everyone has components of ‘beef’ in him but being able to let it go is what makes me a better Christian. I have also worked for people and no one can come out and say I cheated them, though I had control of their songs as a writer. So if I don’t cheat them, I don’t expect anyone to stylishly cheat me. That’s my principle of life.
