Rapper Don Toliver Arrested For Drunk Driving
Don Toliver was arrested for drunk driving near the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday morning, as reported by the California Highway Patrol and cited by TMZ.
Authorities noted clear signs of impairment and issued him a citation at the scene instead of taking him to the station. According to law enforcement sources, he was handed over to a responsible party who was present and sober.
Toliver remained fully cooperative throughout the incident, but further details are currently unavailable. This incident occurred shortly after the birth of his first child with partner Kali Uchis. In a joint Instagram post, the couple expressed their gratitude for their healthy baby boy and the support they received.
Toliver initially rose to prominence through his notable appearance on fellow Houston rapper Travis Scott’s third album Astroworld (2018).
Interestingly, Toliver had just released his debut solo mixtape, Donny Womack, a day before this collaboration. Shortly after, he inked a deal with Scott’s Cactus Jack Records in partnership with Atlantic Records.
His breakthrough came with the release of his single “No Idea” in 2019, followed by “After Party” in 2020. Both tracks not only made their way onto the Billboard Hot 100 but also achieved triple platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
It’s worth mentioning that the initial popularity of these songs can be attributed to their viral success on the video-hosting platform TikTok. Furthermore, they were included in Toliver’s debut studio album, Heaven or Hell (2020), which garnered positive reviews from critics and secured a spot in the top ten of the Billboard 200.
Toliver’s subsequent albums, Life of a Don (2021) and Love Sick (2023), also achieved similar success by reaching the top ten of the Billboard 200. Additionally, he collaborated with Nav and Gunna on Internet Money’s 2020 single “Lemonade,” which peaked within the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.
