Read: Why Mmebusem Stopped Releasing ‘Ghana Jesus’ Videos

Actor Mmebusem has revealed the reason behind his absence from playing the character ‘Ghana Jesus’ in his skits on social media.

He explained that his parents were not in favour of his viral videos and were urging him to pursue other endeavours for his livelihood.

Their disapproval stemmed from the criticism he received for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the skits, which they found disrespectful. In an interview with One Ghana TV, Mmebusem shared that he decided to halt the skit videos based on advice and pressure from his parents.

He mentioned that despite enhancing his brand through the distinctive videos and the endorsement from Jesus himself to persist on this journey, as it broadened his ministry, he eventually had to pull the plugs due to the overwhelming pressure from all directions.

“My parents were complaining that I was not making a good name for myself with the videos, so I should stop and look for better things to do for a living.

“When your parents don’t understand your reasons for doing something, you have to stop it for a while and pray about it. So that one and other issues made me stop doing it for a while,” the Kumawood actor cum skitmaker explained.

During a period when skitmakers from Ghana and Nigeria were delving into various themes in their content, Mmebusem decided to take a unique approach to entertain his audience.

He depicted Jesus Christ as the character portrayed in movies based on the biblical account. Predictably, some Christians, including a few pastors, expressed concerns about the comedian’s portrayal and are urging him to refrain from mocking Jesus.
