Shatta Wale Exposed Over Ghana Music Awards UK
Renowned radio host Kwasi Aboagye, affiliated with the Despite Media Group, has brought to light Shatta Wale’s claim of receiving £80,000 from the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards – UK.
During his esteemed Entertainment Review program on Peace FM, Aboagye confidently stated that no Ghanaian promoter or organizer based in the UK would pay a performance fee exceeding £20,000.
He further elaborated that the organizers, Taabea, had flown Shatta Wale’s team to London on first-class, arranged for their accommodation and other luxurious expenses, and therefore would not have paid such a substantial amount to the controversial dancehall artist.
This revelation has sparked a debate on social media, with some supporting and others opposing Aboagye’s statement. Following his sweeping victory at the event, Shatta Wale has disclosed that he was paid a staggering £80,000 for his performance.
The SM boss made this revelation via a Twitter post on Sunday, October 8.
“Thank you London #GMAUK You did what Ghana music in Ghana couldn’t do 80k pounds for performance Artiste of the year 2023 (Icing on the cake) Shatta Wale is a London boy now !!!” he tweeted.
Shatta Wale was also crowned “Artiste of the Year” at the award ceremony, beating the likes of Black Sherif, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie to win the award. He also won big in the other four categories he was nominated in.
