Singer Davido Reportedly Pays Chioma’s Bride Price In Full
According to rumours making rounds on the internet, Afrobeat singer Davido has travelled to the village to complete his wife Chioma Avril Rowland’s wedding rite per tradition demands.
Chioma, who is from Ezeala Odu in Imo state, has totally acceded to the Adeleke family after the payment of her bride price (Umunna). The Umunna people of Owerre, Nkworji Ezeala ofu Nkwerre Local Government Area, Imo State, have received a complete bride price from the Nigerian sensational singer.
As sighted in images and videos posted online, Chioma’s father can be seen concluding the Umunna and Umuada rituals. The second phase of an Igbo wedding is known as the Umunna rites, which entail a gathering of both the bride’s and the groom’s families.
This meeting is important because the groom’s family needs to reaffirm their desire to wed the potential bride’s family in front of her Umunna (direct and extended family, with family elders).
Following approval, the traditional wedding dates will be selected and the bride price list will be made available. The family of the bride and groom will each receive a goat as well as gifts of kola nuts, palm wine, beer, soft drinks, tobacco, and snuff.
