Sir Alex Ferguson’s Wife, Lady Cathy Ferguson Is Dead

Lady Cathy Ferguson, the esteemed wife of the renowned former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly dead.

Lady Cathy and Sir Alex’s journey began in 1964 when they first crossed paths, and they subsequently tied the knot in 1966.

Together, they were blessed with three sons: Mark, born in 1968, and twin boys Darren, who currently serves as the manager of Peterborough, and Jason, both born in 1972. The Ferguson family has officially confirmed this heartbreaking news through a statement issued to the esteemed PA news agency on Friday afternoon.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday [Thursday] of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild,” the statement read.

“The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Sir Alex Ferguson is a distinguished Scottish ex-football manager and player, renowned for his tenure as the manager of Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. He is universally acknowledged as one of the most exceptional managers in the annals of football, having amassed a record-breaking number of trophies, surpassing all other managers in the sport’s history.

In November 1986, Ferguson was appointed as the manager of Manchester United, where he served for a remarkable 26 years. During his tenure, he achieved an impressive tally of 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two UEFA Champions League titles.

In recognition of his contributions to the sport, he was knighted in the 1999 Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Ferguson holds the distinction of being the longest-serving manager of Manchester United, surpassing the record set by Sir Matt Busby on 19 December 2010. He retired from management at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season, culminating in a Premier League victory in his final campaign.
